It doesn’t matter what type of event you are planning – it may be your wedding, a birthday or even a corporate party. As the host of this party, you want every single person there to have a great time – and hiring the right DJ can have a huge influence on this.

How do you hire a really good disc jockey for your big event? We have some questions for you to ask your “candidates” – so read on and find out more.

  • How are you as an MC? Are you the kind of MC/DJ who talks a lot, or are you rather quiet? Depending on the type of event you may be planning, a quieter (or at least more well-balanced) DJ may be the better choice for you and for your guests.
  • Is there any kind of backup plan? What happens if you get sick before the party? You definitely don’t want to be caught off-guard and without a disc jockey before your big event, so do make sure you set things straight with the person you hire, so that you are covered in any kind of situation.
  • What are your favorite songs? How about the least favorite ones? Your DJ’s taste in music will give you a better idea of what type of music he is likely to play at your party – so, again, this is an important question to ask.
  • What are my tasks as a client? Is there any piece of equipment I should bring? Even more, is it OK with you if I provide you with a list of do and do not play songs? In general, a professional DJ will provide you with everything needed for a high-quality event – but you are still free to leave him with a list of songs to play (respectively not to play) during the party.
